Patients have attitudes to lifestyle change that indicate lack of receptiveness to a clinical appointment aimed at risk identification coupled with education and advice

We interviewed 45 participants who had been screened in the Department of Health Vascular Health Check Programme and identified as being at high risk of a vascular event (>20% in the next 10 years). A third group of responses involved acknowledgement but reluctance to do anything, describing: procrastination; downplaying; fatalism.
